Carole Baskin
Carole Baskin (born June 6, 1961) is an American animal rights activist and owner of Big Cat Rescue, a non-profit animal sanctuary based near Tampa, Florida. Baskin drew public attention when she was featured in the 2020 Netflix documentary series Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness about Oklahoma-based private zoo operator known as Joe Exotic. The Netflix series follows both Baskin and Joe Exotic, filming their ongoing and escalating feuds over exotic animals in private zoos. Following the series' release, Baskin has been targeted by Internet memes related to the disappearance of Don Lewis, her second husband.

Joe Exotic told prison pals he doesn’t need a ­hitman for fierce rival ­Carole Baskin as she’s hated by “half of America”. The Tiger King star is serving a 22-year stretch for animal abuse and murder-for-hire when he was found guilty of plotting the assassination of the animal rights activist.

The pair’s rivalry forms a large chunk of the hit Netflix ­docuseries wowing telly fans. And Carole said she’s recently received death threats from strangers who have somehow discovered her phone number.

Sources from Federal Medical Centre Fort Worth, a hospital run by the Federal Bureau of Prisons, say ex-zookeeper Joe – real name Joseph Maldonado-Passage – is still harbouring his grudge behind bars.
