express.co.ukStrictly Come Dancing contestant has opened up about an emotional reunion on his Instagram.The Invictus Games medalist and presenter shared how he’d actually met his pilot before.In a series of pictures, JJ shared how it was the same man who flew him out of Afghanistan after he suffered severe injuries.Back in May 2011, while serving in Helmand Province, he was hit by an IED blast.This gave him facial injuries, loss of two fingers and the loss of his right elbow.Posting on his Instagram earlier today, JJ explained: “This is David Ellis he just flew me out to the Tokyo for the #Paralympics.“But, it’s not the first time I’ve been on one of his flights.“Incredibly he flew me home, unconscious on a hospital plane, when I was Wounded in.
