Jimmy Thelin has admitted he is desperate to follow in Derek McInnes’s footsteps and to deliver a trophy as Aberdeen manager.McInnes lifted the Dons’ last trophy back in 2014 and it is a major ambition for the current incumbent of the Pittodrie hot seat.
Thelin and his Aberdeen still have Scottish Cup dreams, where they meet Queen's Park in the quarter-finals next month. McInnes returns to the Granite City this weekend but Thelin is looking to get the upper hand and continue the recent revival against his Kilmarnock side.Thelin said: “I think every club has the history and you should use that to be a big club, a stable club and try to use that energy and don't feel like some heavyweight on your shoulders.
The future, you have to create your own history and the circumstances are right now. Of course, everybody here is trying to win some silverware and be a stable club at the top of the table.
That's what we're aiming for.“Derek McInnes did really well and I think he's doing well also right now. It's not easy but I think when you are in this sport and in a club like Aberdeen you have to aim for something and I think still we can reach it but we have to keep growing as a club and try to be there every year.“Then you come closer and closer.
