Toronto Film Festival over the weekend where they had an intimate conversation that involved holding each other’s hands. A source told PEOPLE that Lopez is “very close with Matt” and “enjoyed spending time” with him.
The stars had a private chat at the afterparty for their new movie “Unstoppable.” Lopez stars in the film, which was produced by Damon and Affleck, 52, via their production company, Artists Equity.The “Hustlers” star had a smile on her face and held Damon’s hand during their conversation.An eyewitness told PEOPLE that the pair chatted for over 20 minutes at the afterparty, which was held at the Ritz-Carlton’s EPOCH Bar & Kitchen Terrace.The source said they “began talking and had a long, deep conversation.” The insider also said they laughed and spoke seriously during their chat.
Earlier in the night, Lopez and Damon posed together in group pictures at the “Unstoppable” premiere, alongside their co-stars Bobby Cannavale, Don Cheadle and Jharrel Jerome.Affleck was absent from the premiere.While Damon is pals with Lopez, he has a much longer history with Affleck.
The duo met in Cambridge, Massachusetts, when they were young kids and bonded over a love of baseball and film. They started in Hollywood together and were eventually catapulted to fame after they wrote and starred in the 1997 Oscar-winning smash “Good Will Hunting.”Damon has supported Affleck throughout their 40+ years of friendship, including when the “Argo” actor rekindled his romance with Lopez in 2021 — almost 20 years after they ended their first engagement.“I’m just so happy for him,” Damon told Extra in 2021. “He’s the best.
