Jay Slater's mother said confirmation a body found in Tenerife her missing son was 'the worst news'. Debbie Duncan added: "I just can't believe this could happen to my beautiful boy.

Our hearts are broken." Earlier, it was confirmed the body found matches the fingerprints of the missing teenager. The cause of death is consistent with multiple injuries sustained during a fall in a rocky area, a Spanish court has said.

The Canary Islands High Court of Justice confirmed the body was found near the village of Masca on Monday. Charity LBT Global previously said the remains were found with the 19-year-old’s clothes and possessions near his last known location. Following the discovery, Mr Slater’s friend Lucy Law, who was the last known person to speak to him during a phone call on June 17, issued a tribute on her Instagram page.
