Further agony for Jay Slater's family as they wait to accompany beloved son home

The heartbroken family of teenager Jay Slater who was found dead on holiday in Tenerife are facing further agony as they battle to bring his body home.

A spokesperson for the 19-year-old’s family has said ‘complex issues’ are slowing down the return of Jay’s body to the UK, with his loved ones desperate to be on the same flight.

The teenager’s devastated mum Debbie Duncan has said the family are going through an 'impossible time' after her son’s body was discovered in a treacherous gorge on the Spanish island on Monday morning. READ MORE: Jay Slater's mum asks for people to continue supporting GoFundMe after son's body found In a new message posted on the family’s 'Get Jay Slater Home' GoFundMe page today (July 18) she thanked people for their support and said the family are using some of the £61,000 raised to help with Jay’s repatriation and funeral costs.

The 55-year-old wrote: “We are working with agencies to arrange Jay's repatriation to the UK and the remaining funds, along with any future donations will be used to help with this if needed and to pay for Jay’s funeral costs back home. "We want to give our boy the send-off he deserves so please do continue to share and support our fundraiser however you can." It comes as the family face a number of ‘complex issues’ surrounding the teenager’s repatriation.
