Jay Blades was visited by King Charles III at The Repair Shop earlier this year after initially turning him down due to his busy schedule three times.

After finally mananging to squeeze the monarch in, the special episode aired this evening leaving many fans wanting to know more after their meeting.In a Q&A after the show, Jay, 52, responded to a fan who questioned whether or not he broke royal protocol.It came after he was seen touching Charles as he handed him over a cup of tea.Addressing the moment, he said: "It is against royal protocol but also when you're from the East end, you have a different type of protocol.So, the two protocols came together and he was cool with it and I was cool with it.It was kind of like east end meets west end and we came together.If you see how I touched him and he touched me, you'll see if was mutual."Throughout the episode, fans also noticed how natural he was with the royal, particularly when they exchanged banter.Speaking to fans, the furniture store repairer said he wasn't actually nervous to meet the Prince at the time.He explained: "I viewed him as anyone else who walked into the barn."It's not an arrogance, I just feel like everyone is the same."He is just a normal person and his love for craft is unbelievable."Jay went on to say of their jokes together: "I am a cheeky chappy, but I didn't show no disrepect to him, it was all banter."The BBC star also told fans that there was no script or much preperation for the episode, but just a heads up to be respectful.He described the monarch as "a funny, down to earth guy" who has "banter"..
