Jason Manford's first marriage "disintegrated" because he spent too much time working to give his kids a better childhood than he had, the comedian admitted. The comic, 43, said he did not put enough "care and time" into his relationship with Catherine before they split in 2013 after having four children.
Jason, who was brought up in relative poverty in a council house, revealed he only recently realised he had missed out on quality family time due to work. The host of new TV gameshow Answer Run explained: "My first marriage really disintegrated on my theory of, 'I don't want my children to have the childhood I had'. "So I was out working all the time and I didn't put the care and time into that relationship that it deserved and needed.
It's only now I'm starting to realise, 'Oh, I'm not giving the children the childhood I had', which is good in one thing but bad in another.
Because I got to spend so much time and we had laughs with my parents." He also revealed he would like to try meditation but does not want bad thoughts about his divorce and childhood to creep into his mind.
