There was no love lost in terms of the Edinburgh rivalry in the Australia squad on Friday morning - with Jason Cummings trolling Garang Kuol over his first international goal.Kuol became Australia's fourth-youngest scorer of all-time when he turned home a cross from Dundee United's Aziz Behich to make it 3-1 against Ecuador on Friday morning.
Incredibly, there were 10 players from the SPFL - past and present - in the Australia squad, and whilst only six featured, there is a huge influence between the two countries. One of those who didn't feature was Jason Cummings, who grew up in Hearts' youth academy before joining Hibs at the age of 18.
With Kuol on loan at Hearts from Newcastle, the pair will have had conversations whilst on international duty about their rival clubs.
And Cummings, who found his way into Australia's national team ahead of the World Cup, joked with Kuol about his debut goal being offside. An over the moon Kuol was dancing in , giving his interview, and said: "It was incredible to score my first goal in front of my family; they came down tonight."But Cummings had other ideas, saying: "Garangski...it was offside."Australia won thanks to goals from Awer Mabil, former Hibs and Ross County man Jackson Irvine and Kuol as they played in their first international game since Argentina knocked them out of the World Cup in early December.
