For those that don’t remember, Jamie starred in the film adaptation of the classic Broadway musical, which was released back in 2006. Jamie played Curtis Taylor Jr., the manager of The Dreams and the love interest of Jennifer Hudson‘s character Effie.
When his affections go to Beyonce‘s Deena, Effie starts acting out and Curtis drops her from the group. The song “And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going” takes place right after Curtis tells Effie that she’s out of the group.
