Jamie Carragher has compared Mohamed Salah's Africa Cup of Nations penalty shootout decision to Cristiano Ronaldo's against Spain for Portugal.

For the Liverpool attacker, it was heartache, as two of his Egyptian teammates squandered opportunities from 12-yards meaning he didn't get to take Egypt's fifth penalty in a 4-2 shootout defeat.

His teammate Sadio Mane atoned for his penalty miss in normal time to earn Senegal their first Africa Cup of Nations triumph with his side's fifth penalty.

The Sky Sports pundit likened the decision to the one made by Manchester United star during the 2012 European Championships.
