The Prince Harry and Meghan Markle drama continued into the weekend as it wasn’t clear if the Sussexes would be attending a pre-funeral reception at Buckingham Palace on the eve of Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral.  The Duke and Duchess of Sussex – who settled in California after stepping down as senior royals in 2020 – reportedly initially received an invitation to the Sunday evening reception, but conflicting reports said they were and weren’t expected to attend.  According to the Telegraph, they have now been uninvited because palace officials insisted that the reception hosted by King Charles III and Camilla, the queen consort, is only for working royals, which Harry and Meghan are not. Beckham told Sky News – who caught up with him while he was still waiting in line – that he had joined the queue at 2am on Friday morning. “Well we all want to celebrate our Queen, Her Majesty,” he told the camera crew as the line inched forward. Later that day, at around 3pm, the BBC’s livestream of the lying in state showed Beckham, dressed in a black suit and tie, finally entering Westminster Hall. As the soccer star approached the Queen’s coffin, which is sat on a catafalque draped in the Royal Standard flag and the Imperial State Crown, he stopped and bent his head, pausing for a moment before following the others mourners out.

This Morning hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield looked sombre as they paid their respects to the late Queen Elizabeth II as her coffin is Lying-in-State in Westminster Hall. The TV stars were dressed in black and had lanyards around their necks, which could be for press access to see the Queen Lying-in-State. Phil, 60, and Holly Willoughby presented the daytime show this week, encouraging viewers and guests to share their stories of Elizabeth II following her death last week.
