Viewers will remember that last year Rhona Goskirk (Zoe Henry) discovered that her ex-husband (Alan McKenna) and his wife Lucy (Charlotte Asprey) were expecting a baby.
A few months earlier, the couple had told Rhona that they couldn't have a baby due to fertility problems. It later emerged that they had used embryos previously frozen by Gus and Rhona, making Rhona the baby's biological mother.
And when Lucy sadly died giving birth to baby Ivy, the newborn was sent to stay with Rhona for a while while a heartbroken Gus came to terms with his wife's death.
