After learning that Steph wasn't his real daughter and hearing that Anthony had abused Ruby as a teenager, it's safe to say that Caleb was livid and bloodthirsty for revenge.
Viewers watched as Caleb convinced his father-in-law to follow him into the car, originally promising he'd take him to see Steph at the depot.
However, things soon turned a lot more sinister as Caleb hid a gun behind his back and drove Anthony to a secluded barn to confront him.
