As the first celebrities prepare to take to the ice on Sunday’s Dancing on Ice live show, our favourite stars have all been throwing in a few last minute rehearsals to try and nail each element of their routine before the all important performance.
Among those stars this year, is Coronation Street star Claire Sweeney, who jumped at the chance of taking part after falling in love with the show and the beautiful routines on screen.
But aside from just learning to skate and show off her flawless dance moves, Claire also revealed that improving her fitness and losing some weight was also a big draw to having signed up for the show.
Chatting exclusively to OK!, Claire admitted: “It’s the weight loss for me. You know, I’ve noticed after reaching my 50s, that my body has completely changed.” “I never used to have to think about things or work so hard - and suddenly this opportunity to learn a new skill, and conquer my fears came up.” The 52 year old star then added: “ I have gotten a bit more fearful, but to try and get a skater’s bum and get my figure back — it’s great!” Prior to making her ice debut, Claire also revealed she had been picking the brain of some of her fellow co-stars who had taken part in the show in the past, including last year’s contestant Mollie Gallagher who plays Nina Lucas in the soap. “Molly has been fantastic, she did it last year and it’s quite interesting to be honest,” explained Claire. “She said she actually grieved when it finished and I couldn't get my head round that when I was training in Altrincham and all the different rinks around the country, I couldn't get my head around that.The actress then added: “And now we're all in the studio and it's all picking up.
