Coronation Street viewers were left in the dark about an offscreen exit from the ITV soap on Monday night, as one character announced another's departure.Following a savage attack that led to blackmail, a Weatherfield resident revealed the exit of a character, which wasn't shown on screen.
Sarah Platt informed her brother David Platt that the villainous Nathan Curtis had left for good. After it was revealed in episodes last week that Gary Windass was behind the attack on him, Sarah told David that the assault was enough to frighten him out of town according to reports in the Mirror. When David questioned how she could possibly know Nathan had left or was leaving for good, Sarah simply said she knew because there was no reason for him to stay. The show has not officially announced the departure, but Sarah seemed quite certain the character was gone.
However, what she initially didn't tell David was the real reason she knew he might be leaving. After Gary was revealed as the attacker, Sarah offered Nathan £2,000 to keep quiet and leave.
Nathan's return had caused turmoil for Sarah's daughter Bethany Platt, who became convinced he was behind Lauren Bolton's murder.Nathan exited the show seven years ago after being sent to prison.
