Coronation Street veteran Helen Worth, known for playing the cobbles' Gail Platt for the last 50 years, is preaping to say goodbye to Weatherfield, much to the shock of the soap's fans.
Her exit - which will be shown at the end of the year - has also left Corrie bosses wondering what it means for the future of her on-screen family, with one speculating that another icon could follow her out.
Now, viewers are deliberating the aftermath of her departure from the ITV soap. Expressing his thoughts on a live stream on Thursday evening, accomplished soap writer Daran Little - who's contributed to both Corrie and BBC One's EastEnders over the years - pondered whether Audrey - played by Sue Nicholls, 80 - would stick around after Helen's exit.
Though quick to disclaim he had "no insider knowledge", Daran mused: "My gut feeling is Sue [Nicholls, who plays Audrey Roberts] won't want to stay long without Helen.
