ITV boss Dame Carolyn McCall has shared that she is "deeply concerned" about former This Morning presenter Phillip Schofield.
Dame Carolyn has appeared before the Culture, Media and Sport Committee to answer questions about the broadcaster’s approach to safeguarding and complaint handling.
It comes after Phillip, 61, admitted to having an affair with a much younger male colleague while working at ITV. In his statement, he also apologised for 'lying' to staff, friends and family when they questioned him about affair rumours.The parliamentary session will cover ITV’s initial investigation into rumours regarding Phillip that had began spreading online years before he admitted to the affair.They will also investigate the ITV-commissioned review into the facts by barrister Jane Mulcahy KC, the working culture on This Morning and other productions, as well as ITV’s use of non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) and its whistleblowing policy.
Following his resignation from ITV, Phillip gave an interview to the BBC in which he said he now understands how deceased television presenter Caroline Flack felt in the wake of his scandal.
