This doorbell footage captured the moment a huge bang was heard on a street in Bury before a fire broke out in a house. The blaze broke out on the top floor of a home on Whitehead Crescent, which backs onto Lepp Crescent, at around 8.30pm on Sunday evening (May 13).

Three fire engines raced to the scene, as well as police officers. The fire broke out as heavy downpours, thunder and lightning hit our region.

Residents said they believed the blaze was 'caused by a lightning strike', though this has not yet been confirmed by the fire service or police. This was captured just moments before the flames started to engulf the home, residents said. Neighbours said it 'sounded like a bomb went off' as 'the top windows of the home melted'.
