Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that midfielder Alexis Mac Allister's knee injury 'doesn't look good' with just over a week to go until their clash with Manchester United at Anfield.
The Argentine, who joined the Merseyside outfit from Brighton & Hove Albion in the summer transfer window, was forced off just before the hour-mark in Wednesday night's 2-0 win over Sheffield United at Bramall Lane.
He required stitches and vowed that he would "bounce back soon". The initial prognosis did not suggest that it was an injury to cause too much concern, but he is now expected to miss Saturday's trip to Selhurst Park to face Crystal Palace.
Though Klopp has not put a specific time frame on his potential period of his absence, he has warned that he 'doesn't know' if he will be available to face Erik ten Hag's side on December 17.
