manchestereveningnews.co.ukJeff Stelling - the former host of Soccer Saturday - has voiced his opinion that Mark Chapman should be the only contender to host Match of the Day when Gary Lineker steps down.
Earlier this month, the BBC confirmed Lineker will be leaving the flagship highlights show next year - although he will remain with the company until after the World Cup in 2026.
His successor is yet to be announced, but Stelling has insisted that Chapman is the sole candidate worthy of filling Lineker's shoes.
In an interview with The Telegraph, Stelling said: "Chappers is the man for the job. A great presenter, nice sense of humour, good rapport with the guests.
