Manchester United and Manchester City will enter the Carabao Cup at the third round stage this week. United and City will join Arsenal, Newcastle United, Liverpool, Brighton and Hove Albion, West Ham and Aston Villa in making their 2023/24 competition debuts having been in action in Europe.
United and City both played their first group stage matches in the Champions League last week. Having lost 4-3 to Bayern Munich in their European outing, United will hope for a better result when they host Crystal Palace at Old Trafford.
Last year, the Reds won the competition thanks to a 2-0 win over Newcastle, securing Erik ten Hag's first silverware of his reign. Knowing Pep Guardiola, he will be desperate to get his hands on the cup this season but they must get past Newcastle in the third round on Wednesday night.
