Mark Labbett, known as The Beast on ITV's The Chase, has become a popular figure among fans since he first appeared on the show in 2009.The TV star was born in Tiverton in 1965 and attended Bishop Wordsworth's School in Salisbury, Wiltshire.The now 58 year old boasts an impressive education, including a Master of Arts degree in mathematics from Exeter College, Oxford.

After his studies, Mark moved to Caldicot, Monmouthshire, in 1998, where he worked as a maths and PE supply teacher at Caldicot School and his love for quizzes began while working at Butlins holiday camp.

Mark's TV career kicked off in 1999 when he appeared on Mastermind, with the Olympic Games as his specialist subject. Mark reappeared on Mastermind in 2000, choosing The Simpsons as his specialist subject.

Later that year, he also competed on Countdown, losing narrowly. He appeared on other shows such as Stake Out, Grand Slam, Brain Teaser, SUDO-Q and two rounds on Who Wants to be a Millionaire?
