On Friday 22 March, Kate Middleton released a video on social media explaining that she has sadly been diagnosed with cancer, and is currently undergoing preventative treatment for her condition.

Back in January, Kensington Palace shared that the Princess had received planned major abdominal surgery, and was recovering at home in private until at least April.

But, in the video - captioned 'A message from Catherine, The Princess of Wales' - Kate spoke directly to the public to share the news, detailing that at the time of her operation, it was thought that her condition was non-cancerous. "The surgery was successful, however tests after the operation found cancer had been present.

My medical team therefore advised that I should undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy and I'm now in the early stages of that treatment," she revealed.
