An 18th century mansion which includes part of Ireland's most notable ancient woodland is up for sale at a guide price of £18m.
The stunning Abbey Leix Estate in Co Laois is an 1,050-acre estate which finds its roots in an abbey set up by a group of monks back in the mid-12th century.
Currently owned by Sir David Davies, an 83-year-old Welsh businessman and president of the Irish Georgian Society, it is the most expensive property publicly listed in the Republic of Ireland right now.
Davies bought the 10-bedroom mansion from Tom de Vesci in the mid-1990s for €3 million and after years of restoration work on the property, decided to put it on the market in June 2019, the Irish Mirror reports. Would you be interested in this property?
