An inquest has opened into the death of a mum who murdered her newborn baby after telling her boyfriend she had miscarried. Rachel Tunstill died in HMP Styal in Cheshire on August 1.
The 32-year-old was jailed for life after killing Mia Kelly in the bathroom of her home and dumping her body in a bin. She was first convicted for her daughter's murder in June 2017 and handed a life sentence.
But that conviction was quashed the following year by the Court of Appeal. At the time, judges ruled that lesser charges should have been considered.
But following a retrial, Tunstill was again found guilty of murder in February 2019, when she was handed another life sentence.
