Boris Johnson is facing a make-or-break week for his premiership with his future in No 10 hanging in the balance. The PM is braced for the delivery of the Sue Gray report into Downing Street drinking parties during lockdown which could determine his fate.
On Sunday night a source told the Telegraph that police who were on duty when the gatherings took place have given 'extremely damning' evidence to the inquiry.
One source said: "Met officers have spoken to Sue Gray now, as you would expect, and have been able to provide a lot of information." READ MORE: Man died after single punch in altercation outside social club left him with critical head injury Asked how significant the information they had provided was, the source added: "Put it this way, if Boris Johnson is still Prime Minister by the end of the week, I’d be very surprised." Many Tory MPs have said they will wait to see the findings before deciding whether to push for a vote of confidence which could see him forced out.
At the same time the PM is battling new allegations of Islamophobia after one MP claimed she was told she had been sacked as a junior minister because of concerns about her 'Muslimness'.
