The clothing specialist is moving to an online-only model. It is the latest in a string of high-profile casualties to hit bricks-and-mortar retailers in recent years.
Department store business Debenhams went into administration before it was bought out by Manchester fast fashion brand BooHoo, while ASOS bought Arcadia's Topshop and Miss Selfridge.
Now Gap has fallen victim to the preference of consumers for online shopping which has been turbocharged by the coronavirus pandemic.
