I've ventured into the biggest Marks & Spencer in the north. A store so big it boasts TWO M&S Cafes inside, has its own dedicated beauty hall, a food hall as big as a regular supermarket and a dizzying array of products as far as the eye can see.
It has its own double storey car park, and as I park up on the upper level I admire the rather impressive wooden wavy roof of this colossus of retail stores.
The M&S in question is at Cheshire Oaks, Ellesmere Port, which first opened back in 2012. I remember heading along to the launch all those years ago, where amid a blaze of national publicity it was heralded as Marks' "greenest and biggest store" sprawling across 148,000 square foot.
The huge roof, for example, is deployed to capture rainwater which is used to power up all the loos inside the store, while greenery sprouts from the "living walls" around the car park.
