From child sexual abuse to public investigations, Manchester-based lawyer Kim Harrison has dealt with hundreds of harrowing cases.

Kim has just become the president of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers, a not-for-profit group which campaigns on behalf of injured people and bereaved families. “The families were some of the most incredible people I have ever had the privilege to meet," she said. “I felt a huge sense of responsibility to do the right thing by them and the inquiry has permanently changed my view of the world. “Unfortunately, it’s changed for the worse as I now fear that if another similar terrorist atrocity occurred again, I am not convinced the emergency response would be much better.” After listening to evidence, Kim said she knew she had to learn first aid and how to control bleeding.
