A couple were forced to postpone their wedding after a horror smash put the groom in hospital weeks before the big day. James Barlow was told he was 'lucky to survive' after a 60mph crash involving his motorbike and a car.
The 36-year-old had to be airlifted to hospital and suffered life-changing injuries. He was still in hospital on the day he should have been exchanging vows with Nicole Barlow, then Simpson.
The couple were able to marry a year later, but Nicole admits her life partner 'could have died' in the collision. It’s amazing to be finally married, especially when I remember that he could have died. It just made the wedding even more beautiful." James and Nicole, 32, met in 2016 and got engaged in 2019.
