Emmerdale star Mark Charnock, 53, underwent extensive preparation to truthfully portray Marlon Dingle’s stroke on the ITV soap. Speaking to Express.co.uk and other media outlets, the actor revealed the "intense time" he went through behind-the-scenes of the storyline.Mark admitted that the preparation process was “exhausting”, but said he felt honoured to have been chosen to represent real life people who have suffered strokes.He said: “It's been exhausting and it's been very, very intense.“Everything is obviously highly emotional, highly charged, every moment is absolutely crucial.So it is all high stakes.“The cast have been fantastic and it's been a very rewarding thing to be a part of.“You feel honoured you try to represent so many people who've been through such hellish things.”Mark concluded: “I think there has been a real sense of purpose around set."In order to give viewers an accurate portrayal of a stroke, Mark worked closely with the Stroke Association.He described his work with the charity as an “eye-opener” as he stressed that the statistics of strokes in the UK left him surprised.Mark said: “It was extraordinarily helpful.

Jessie Elland's on screen character Chloe Harris joined Emmerdale in August 2021 as the sister of Gemma Harris. Since that time she’s been at the centre of plenty of storylines including her romance with Noah, as well as her relationship with her criminal father Damon. Outside of the soap, Jessie is from Yarm, North Yorkshire and has 3,800 Instagram followers who she keeps posted on the goings on in her life.The actress originally studied Anthropology at the University of Manchester before she switched to Drama.

Emmerdale star Mark Charnock, 53, has reflected upon the show’s storyline that sees his character, Marlon Dingle, suffer a stroke.The actor spoke to Express.co.uk and other media outlets about the scenes that will change Marlon’s life “forever”.Speaking of Marlon’s perspective on life after the stroke, Mark explained that the character now thinks he “can’t be the dad he wanted to be” for his children.However, other characters, including Marlon’s love interest Rhona Goskirk, will support him following the traumatic experience.Mark said: “I don't think he’s going to get to where he wants to be for a long time, and we're just at the beginning of his journey.“He can't work anymore, and he feels, wrongly, that he can't be the dad he wants to be anymore, which is everything to him, because of his incapacitation.“But because of Rhona and Paddy and other characters who come into this story who are a big support, there's some comedy in it too, there's some fun to be had in it and some lovely scenes with Paddy, really funny and well written in the hospital quite early on.“There’s a great deal of hope that things can only get better from where they are, there’s positivity to be had from it too so hopefully apart from it being distressing, traumatic for the characters, also it will inspire them to get their lives back.”Mark went on to explain how he hopes the impactful storyline inspires viewers to make a positive change to their lives.He said: “And hopefully it will inspire the people watching to maybe change their lifestyles a little bit in order to head this off before it happens to them – because it happens to so many people."Elsewhere in the interview, Mark admitted that the new plot is set to change Marlon’s life “forever”,

Emmerdale actor Jack Downham has revealed that there is "no way back" for his character Noah Dingle as his obsession with Chloe Harris begins to spiral out of control.Speaking exclusively to Daily Star and other publications, the young star shared that things will eventually go from bad to worst for the troubled teen. When asked whether his character Noah can still turn his life around, Jack seemed to think the possibility was rather slim.
