BBC presenter Victoria Derbyshire has opened up about her haunting fear of not seeing her children grow into adults, as she supports a major NHS cancer campaign.The former Newsnight anchor and breast cancer warrior is championing the first-ever NHS screening awareness initiative, urging women to accept their mammogram invitations.

Surprising statistics from NHS England indicate that almost half of the women invited for the initial screening skip the potentially lifesaving appointment.The NHS predicts an attendance boost to 80% could significantly impact early breast cancer detection for the next year, potentially uncovering 7,500 more cases in the early stages by 2025/26.This drive could mean around 925,000 additional women being screened compared to the previous year.

Adding celebrity power to the campaign are broadcaster Julia Bradbury and Strictly's Shirley Ballas, who'll pen heartfelt 'unofficial' letters urging women to get screened.

Victoria's own letter shares: "When I was diagnosed I thought I wouldn't get to see my two little boys grow up, who were then aged eight and 11.
