A woman who says she can't afford to buy a house on her £40,000 salary has now started transforming her parent's barn into a home to live in.
Isobel Perl, 28, wanted to get on the property ladder but was told by a mortgage advisor that she wouldn’t be able to afford anything beyond a one-bedroom flat with her solo salary.
After Isobel left London and moved back in with her parents, she got the idea to save money by converting the barn next to her parent's house.
Isobel has spent £10,000 on the work so far and with just two months work left, she says it will be a one-bed home worth £450,000 when she is done - and will have only cost her a total of £25,000.
