Manchester City players were upbeat on Saturday. A 1-0 win over struggling Southampton may not have been what neutrals or the bookmakers were expecting, and the scoreline could have been different had Erling Haaland not been denied on multiple occasions.
But as the Blues went top of the league there was satisfaction in the dressing room for a number of reasons. They remain unbeaten in all competitions, not just for the season but in six games since Rodri was injured in an early title clash with Arsenal.
