Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) suspended face-to-face assessments for Personal Independence Payment (PIP) and other health-related benefits in March 2020 as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.The DWP recently confirmed that this suspension will remain in place "until further notice" due to ongoing lockdown restrictions across the UK.The DWP will continue to assess disability claims by considering supporting evidence submitted in the application form, medical evidence provided by healthcare professionals and talking to claimants over the phone, as part of a formal interview.While this style of assessment may reduce some concerns about attending a meeting in person, it is still one that claimants should prepare for as it will count.
