How moving to Australia with two suitcases helped me re-find the fun in getting dressed

somewhere – maybe my MC Overalls boiler suit would offer the perfect combination of casual and cute? Or the Theory leather overshirt that looks great with a silk cami, worn with my (probably too small) Ribcage Levis and & Other Stories heels – you know, the ones I bought at the start of the pandemic (and still hadn’t worn yet)?

Except that these gems were on a container ship somewhere in the vicinity of Vietnam. Or possibly stuck in the Suez Canal. At the end of December, I moved from London, where I’d spent the past 15 years, to Melbourne.

The Australian city is where I grew up and where my family lives, and as the pandemic wore on, I felt an increasingly intense need to move closer to them.
