How Man City can scupper Manchester United transfer deal for Ruben Amorim target

Manchester City's reported pursuit of Juventus full-back Andrea Cambiaso could, potentially, scupper Manchester United's hopes of signing Patrick Dorgu this winter.

Throughout the January transfer window, United have been linked with a move for Dorgu. The Manchester Evening News understands the Reds are in talks with Lecce over a deal, but the Serie A club have so far stood firm and have insisted they are confident of keeping hold of the Denmark international - at least this month.

United's current financial situation means they are operating on a basis of needing to sell before they can buy. As such, the Reds are exploring a deal to sell Tyrell Malacia to fund their move for Dorgu.

However, this could all be in vain if City purchase Cambiaso from Juve. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Blues are willing to pay £67.2million for the impressive 24-year-old this winter - adding to their spend.
