With the Sid Waddell trophy and £500k prize money in the bank, the world is Luke Littler's oyster after his World Darts Championships victory over Michael van Gerwen.

The 17-year-old Warrington sensation came back to the Alexandra Palace tournament in which he announced himself to the world 12 months ago and emphatically cruised to victory.

Up against three-time winner Van Gerwen, he calmly dispatched 'The Green Machine' 7-3 in last Friday's meeting. Celebrations at Ally Pally saw Littler get his hands on the Sid Waddell trophy plus the Ballon d'Art trophy awarded for the most 180s hit across the event.

There were also heart-warming scenes as he celebrated with family and friends who had come in support. And according to The Mirror, it continued into Saturday.
