Niklas Gunnarsson can see exactly why Aberdeen are pressing to try to make Jimmy Thelin their next manager.The former Hibs star came up against Thelin’s Elfsborg side when he was at IFK Norrkoping last season.
The Swedish boss has transformed Elfsborg into major players in Sweden and heartbreakingly missed out on the Allsvenskan title on the last day of the season.Gunnarsson has been impressed with the job Thelin has done in his six years at the Boras-based club and can see why he is a top target for Dave Cormack and his Pittodrie board.
The Norwegian defender admitted: “Elfsborg like to play on the counter attack. They like to play fast, attacking football.“They are probably the most physical team in the Swedish top-flight but they also have a good tempo.
They like to press a high and they don’t give the opposition much time on the ball.“They like to press, win the ball back and then counter attack with pace.
