Authorities are piecing together a timeline of a 43-year-old German sex offender being treated as a suspect in Madeleine McCann's disappearance.
The German national is known to have been in and around Praia da Luz on the Algarve coast in Portugal at the time Maddie vanished on May 3, 2007.
The three-year-old was on holiday with her parents, Kate and Gerry McCann, and her twin siblings, Sean and Amelie, when she vanished without a trace.
British police had always investigated her disappearance as a missing persons case, as her parents maintained hopes of one day finding her alive.
