A 58-year-old man with dementia is maintaining an independent lifestyle after finding the right support to help him overcome his 'frustration and fear'.

Drew Garty had forged careers in both international banking and medicine but in 2005 his life changed when he had a stroke. Two further strokes 10 years later forced Drew to retire from work, and then he began to experience memory loss which prompted a cognitive impairment diagnosis 18 months ago.

For Drew, the memory loss had begun affecting everyday activities and tasks around the home and he said: “I began to suspect something was wrong around four years ago. "My keen mind began to fail me at odd random occasions.
