After the buzz of the Grand National at Aintree, it's a quieter day of racing with just two Sunday meetings. But our man Garry Owen has studied both cards and picked out his selections.

SWORD BEACH (1.00) can take command in the military riders’ handicap hurdle at Wincanton.Alan King’s charge looked better than ever when decisively defeating Hit The Rocks at Plumpton. The gelding was very strong at the finish over two miles so he can shrug off a fair 5lb rise up in trip.RIVER BRAY (1.30) can bag the tricky Eastbury Hotel Handicap Hurdle for shrewd Vic Dartnall. The gelding improved for the return to 2m 4f when chinning the useful Guernsey at this venue. The nine-year-old looks fairly-treated so he can make light of a 3lb rise on the likely fast surface.Jeremy Scott’s KELTUS (2.40) can defy a 3lb hike for chinning Smuggler's Blues over track and trip.

Sam England’s KINONDO KWETU (1.50) can shade a fascinating novices’ hurdle at Stratford. The six-year-old put in his best shift yet when giving Getareason most resistance at Newcastle. That is excellent form so this strong-traveller can open his account for his in-form connections.MORGENSTERN (2.23)) can extend David Pipe’s winning streak in a warm novices’ hurdle. The five-year-old improved again when an excellent second to Give Me A Moment at Fontwell. That race is working out fairly well so this likeable type can go one better over an extra half-mile.GAME SOCKS (2.55) can put his best foot forward for Dr Richard Newland in the staying hurdle.

The gelding clearly relished tackling 3m 2f when comfortably denying Age Of Wisdom at Fontwell. The six-year-old is open to plenty of progress over long distances so he can deny a decent field.
