Horse Discorama dies in Grand National tragedy leaving trainer "heartbroken"

Grand National 2022 horse Discorama has died after being pulled up with an injury during one of Saturday's races.Discorama's race ended before the 13th fence of the iconic Aintree event.

Jockey Bryan Cooper reported the two-time winner was lame before trainer Paul Nolan confirmed the injury was a fatal one on Saturday evening.Nolan said: "We are heartbroken to have lost Discorama today at Aintree.

Bryan pulled him up due to injury. Our condolences to his owners Andrew Gemmell & Tom Friel."It became the third horse to be put down at the 2022 Grand National after Solwara One on Friday and Elle Est Belle on the second race of the card on Saturday.A tragic update was given following further assessment by the Aintree veterinary team, where it was revealed the horse was put to sleep due to an 'untreatable' pelvic injury.Professor Chris Proudman, Veterinary Advisor to Aintree Racecourse, said: “After the race, Discorama, who had pulled up while travelling on the flat between fences, was assessed further in Aintree’s veterinary treatment facility within the stables."Very sadly we determined that he had sustained an untreatable pelvic injury and it has now been necessary to put him to sleep on welfare grounds.
