A man who died in his house after suffering serious head injuries in a shocking attack has been described as being a ‘devoted family man’ who will be ‘dearly missed’.
Nadeem Butt, 50, was found dead inside his home on Woodlands Street in Cheetham Hill on August 5, 2020. Detectives initially launched a murder investigation after he was found with injuries following a ‘serious assault’.
Nobody has ever been brought to justice or faced a criminal charge relating to his death, however. At an inquest held at Manchester Coroner’s Court on Monday (June 5), area coroner Zak Golombeck heard a forensic post-mortem report suggested Mr Butt had sustained his injuries on July 30 - six days before his body was found. READ MORE: Join the FREE Manchester Evening News WhatsApp community Dr Lumb said that Mr Butt had sustained serious head injuries and ‘may have survived for a period of time - several hours - after he sustained the injuries’.
The report said that Mr Butt’s injuries ‘were caused during the course of a sustained physical assault using blunt or sharp force’.
