A man has pleaded guilty to killing his neighbour. Tarik Hussein, 28, admitted fatally attacking 56-year-old shop worker Esmaeil Tofigh following an incident in Longsight.

Police said that officers were called after concerns were raised for welfare of a man on Plymouth Grove at about 5.20am on Sunday February, 5.

Mr Tofigh was discovered 'unresponsive' on his living room floor surrounded by 'a large amount of blood', an inquest previously heard.

A divorced store assistant, Mr Tofigh was born in Iran. Prosecutor Tim Storrie KC said it was 'incontrovertible' that Mr Hussein was 'suffering from an abnormality of the mind' at the time of the killing.
