A prominent Australian TV director has died after a freak accident that happened while he was trimming the hedges in his garden.
John Clabburn, who worked as an assistant director on Australian shows Home and Away and Underbelly, fell three metres from a tree before cutting his hand on a cordless gardening saw on Tuesday.
The 52-year-old managed to stay calm after the accident and asked his wife to call an ambulance. Paramedics rushed to his home in Artarmon in Sydney just after 5pm and found the filmmaker, who is known as JC to his peers, suffering a cardiac arrest.
He had lost a large amount of blood from the wound. The paramedics were able to stabilise him at the scene before rushing him to hospital.
