Hollywood legend reveals she thought she would die after serious drug addiction

Whoopi Goldberg has revealed her fears that she would die after becoming addicted to cocaine, recalling one terrifying experience after taking the drug.The 68-year-old star has detailed the experience in her upcoming memoir, titled Bits and Pieces: My Mother, My Brother, and Me.

She recalls staying away from drugs after an intervention led her to rehab before she made her name in Hollywood. While attempting to make a name for herself in showbusiness, Whoopi recalls drugs being 'readily available' and easy to access. "I was invited to parties where I was greeted at the door with a bowl of Quaaludes from which I could pick what I wanted.

Lines of cocaine were laid across tables and bathroom counters for the taking," writes Whoopi, according to Page Six. Initially, Whoopi was under the impression that she could "handle" cocaine usage as it didn't seem "dangerous" and successfully kept her drug habits concealed for about a year, but then things quickly started spiralling out of control.The Sister Act lead's addiction reached such a bad state that she began hallucinating.

Whoopi narrates an incident when she believed she saw some creature lurking under her bed.The actress recalled the terrifying moment she thought a spider might attack her if she moved, leading her to stay in bed for an entire day.
