Hollyoaks is in turmoil as Ross Adams (Scott Drinkwell) becomes the latest star to leave the show after almost ten years - Ross announced his departure from the show on Sunday 17 March.
Ross spoke to Metro about exit and revealed that he turned down the offer to stay on the soap. “They [Hollyoaks] were kind enough to offer me another contract, but last year I did a documentary about adoption and I really enjoyed doing that," he shared. “It was a bit of an opportunity for me to do a bit of presenting which is something I’ve always been keen to do, but also to do something as me.” Ross continued: “I’m excited just to see what else is out there.
It’s been over 10 years since I last had an audition so just the thought of that is exciting. Also, when you’re at Hollyoaks you’re on first call to them – your priority is the show. “In the past there’s things I haven’t been able to do [because of that], now if something comes up that I’d jump at the chance to do, I’ll be available should they want me to do it.” When he was asked to give a message to his fans, Ross said: “Without breaking down into tears, I want to thank them all. “It’s been the ride of my life and I hope they’ll stick around with me because the fan support has meant so much.
Oh, and keep watching the soaps! Without viewers, they’re nothing.” Ross’ exit comes just days after another shock departure. The Sun reported that Jamie Lomas (Warren Fox) made the decision to quit the Channel 4 soap.
