Holly Willoughby is reportedly “so excited" with ITV’s decision not to replace Phillip Schofield on This Morning. The presenter, 42, is currently enjoying some time away from the show for her summer holiday, and it’s understood that she will return in September to a ‘major shakeup of the show.’ Since Phillip stepped down from his role as her co-presenter after admitting that he had ‘an unwise but not illegal’ affair with a younger male colleague, he has been replaced with guest presenters Josie Gibson, Dermot O'Leary, and Craig Doyle.
And according to TV insiders Holly is delighted that this will continue, with ITV reportedly opting not to find a permanent replacement for Phil, with Holly now considered to be ‘the main star’ of the show .
A source told the Daily Mail: “It will essentially be Holly's show… Holly is so excited about the plan, she loves Josie, Craig, Alison, and Dermot." The insider added that under this plan, there should be ‘no fallouts’ with TV bosses keen to focus on ‘the content of the show rather than the twosome presenting it.’ Holly is also understood to be signing a new contract that will see her get a pay rise from her already impressive £700,000 a year salary for hosting the show. The blonde beauty, who is mum to 14-year-old son Harry, 12-year-old daughter Belle, and eight-year-old son Chester, whom she shares with her husband Daniel Baldwin, recently began her annual summer break without telling viewers.
After leaving the show in the hands of Dermot O’Leary and Alison Hammond, some were surprised to see her not give her usual sign-off to start her summer break, fuelling speculation that she would leave the programme for good.
